Does it really work offline?
Yes. The first launch downloads the voice model — one time, a few hundred MB. After that, turn Wi-Fi off and generate.
Can you see my scripts?
No — and not as a policy promise, as an architecture fact. Generation happens on your Mac. We don’t run a server that could see your text.
Is there a subscription?
No. The trial is free for a month. Plus is €39 once; Pro is €59 once. Updates are included — no renewal, no credits.
I work under NDA. Can I use this?
That’s the job it was built for. Nothing you type or generate leaves your machine, which keeps the compliance conversation short.
How does it compare to cloud voice platforms?
Different tools for different jobs. Cloud platforms are built for expressive acting, dubbing, and voice agents at enterprise scale. VoiceQuill is built for narration you own — local, one-time, repeatable. Plenty of people use both.
How do I control pronunciation and delivery?
In the script itself. Inline pronunciation overrides fix names and brands for good, stress marks shape emphasis, and pauses go where you put them. The same script produces the same delivery, every generation.
When is iOS coming?
It’s on the roadmap, and the architecture was built to travel. Mac first, done properly.
Which languages does Pro support?
Seven: English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), French, Italian, Japanese and Mandarin. Pro detects the script’s language as you type and moves native voices to the top — you can also pin it. One language per script; mixed text follows the dominant one. Plus covers the 10 English voices.
Does Translate send my text anywhere?
No. Translate uses Apple’s on-device Translation framework. The language pack downloads once from Apple, then it works offline — your script never leaves your Mac.
Why does Translate need macOS 15?
Apple’s on-device translation is only available on macOS 15 (Sequoia) and later. On macOS 14 everything else works; the Translate button is disabled with a note.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon. macOS 15 is recommended — it’s required for on-device Translate.
I bought Plus. How do I switch to a Pro (or new) key?
In the app: Settings → Deactivate this device, then paste the new key. The app auto-unlocks from your stored key, so deactivating is how you reach the paste screen. It’s the same app either way — no re-download.
